FAQs
Q: What is Monk Fruit?
A fruit native to Southern China, known for its natural sweetness. Ours is water-extracted from whole monk fruit and made with just fruit and water. No additives, no preservatives, and no artificial sweeteners.
Q: Is it a sweetener?
No, not technically. Our Monk Fruit Infusion is a naturally sweet food ingredient, not a food additive. Think of it like honey or maple syrup — something you add for natural sweetness, but with less than 0.2g carbs and less than 1 kcal per serving.
Q: Is it keto?
Yes. Thanks to its natural concentrated sweetness and potency, a typical serving (8 drops) contains less than 0.2g carbs and 0g added sugar, making it ideal for low-carb, low sugar and keto lifestyles.
Q: How do I use it?
Start with 8 drops in tea, coffee, yogurt, or recipes.
It’s around 5x sweeter than sugar, so a little goes a long way.
You can also drizzle it over fruit, chia pudding, or blend it into smoothies and sauces.
Q: What makes Monk Fruit sweet?
Monk fruit contains mogrosides, natural compounds that create an intense, clean sweetness without added sugar or calories.
Q: What are mogrosides?
Mogrosides are the naturally occurring sweet compounds found in monk fruit. They provide intense sweetness without raising blood sugar, and are also known for their antioxidant properties.
Q: Why water?
Monk fruit is naturally around 200 times sweeter than sugar, which makes it tricky to use in its pure form. We add a small amount of water to make it easier to measure and use in everyday life. It’s still incredibly potent and comes out around 5 times sweeter than sugar, making it perfect for drop by drop serving.
Q: What about sustainability?
We care deeply about reducing waste and making thoughtful choices. That’s why we bottle our Monk Fruit in recyclable glass and ship it in innovative wool mailers from Woola, made using waste wool and fully curbside recyclable. It’s our small way of doing better — for you, and the planet.
Q: Does Monk Fruit contain sugar or carbs?
Monk fruit contains some natural sugars, just like fruit juice. But because of its potency, our Monk Fruit is used by the drop, so each serving (8 drops ≈ 0.3ml) contains less than 0.2g carbs, less than 1 kcal calories and 0g added sugar.
In other words: you get the sweetness, not the sugar.
Q: What does ‘Keto & Green’ mean?
It’s about more than a diet, it’s a way of living that focuses on low-carb, plant-friendly ingredients that support your health without sacrificing taste.
“Keto” refers to a low-carb way of eating that helps your body enter ketosis. This is a natural state where it burns fat for fuel instead of glucose, the sugar your body typically uses for energy after converting your carbohydrates.
The “Green” reflects our love for clean, natural foods and the fact that this lifestyle works for vegans, vegetarians, and people with food sensitivities too.
Kristina, one of the co-founders follows a vegan keto lifestyle and also has a nut and seafood allergy, so everything we do at Keto & Green is about keeping things simple, inclusive, and nourishing.
